Synthetic Portraits

Portraits of people who never existed, directed through costume, gesture, colour and the useful mistakes of the model.

This series treats the image model less as an illustrator and more as an unpredictable casting room. Recurring motifs—flowers, theatrical clothing, pale faces and staged gardens—create a loose fictional world without settling into a single story.

The interest lies in the tension between photographic familiarity and visible invention. Faces feel specific, yet details refuse to resolve completely; styling appears authored, but the logic underneath it remains slightly impossible.
