Hora — Calendar for Loose Plans
A spatial calendar for people who work associatively, across parallel projects and with attention that changes from day to day.
Hora combines calendar events and tasks in one spatial surface. It is not a productivity system, habit tracker or project manager: there are no priorities, streaks, progress bars or overdue states. Capturing a thought costs almost nothing, and leaving it alone is treated as incubation rather than failure.
The interface has two visible weight classes. Fixed appointments live quietly on a narrow rail and remain real EventKit events. Softer intentions become coloured notes on an open weekly canvas, where position carries meaning. Dragging a note into a day creates a loose intention; dragging it onto the rail creates a precise commitment.
Unplaced notes enter a drawer at the bottom. Notes that remain untouched gradually lose saturation and return to that drawer after several days—never deleted, marked late or counted against the user. A Share Extension accepts links, images and text immediately, while hybrid lexical and semantic search helps retrieve them later.
The iOS architecture uses SwiftUI, SwiftData and the user’s private CloudKit database, with a fully local mode when iCloud is unavailable. The MVP is designed to test the core thesis first: a weekly canvas, frictionless capture, rough scheduling by drag, gentle fading and dependable private sync.
